Why use Unified Family Services?

Unified Family Service works hard to serve each family on an individual basis; we are dedicated to meeting each family's individual needs. We believe in Safety, Reliability, Compassion, and Respect with every youth and parent we work with. We are very much aware that many programs are very concerned about whom they recommend to parents for this intervention and transition process. We strive to work closely with each school and program so that we can provide a level of service that more effectively prepares the youth for the program during their time with us. Because of this, we are very selective in our agents. We personally participate and/or oversee all aspects of the transports to ensure our high standards and expectations that we promise to you. We sincerely care about your son/daughter that we work with and we want this positive transition to begin the moment we pick your child up.

How much notification is required prior to a transport?

UFS has Agents that are on standby virtually 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We recommend that all travel arrangements are made at least 48 hours prior to the intervention and transition process. With advance notice we can provide for the greatest possible savings in travel expenses.

Why should I leave the room immediately after introducing the Agents?

The most important way to begin the intervention/transition process is to begin by having Parents introduce our Agents by name, briefly expressing love and concern for your son/daughter and then immediately removing themselves from the room.  By having the parent exit to an unobserved portion of the house will help to stabilize what may be a tense situation. Your son/daughter is much more likely to create a scene and express hurtful emotions with a compassionate parent or guardian present. Basically, if your son/daughter does not have an audience, especially his/her Parents, they will be less likely to act out verbally or physically.

What if my child becomes uncooperative or combative?

UFS Agents are trained to first use verbal de-escalation techniques to control the situation and avoid potential confrontation as they arise. As UFS Agents are in very close proximity to your son/daughter at all times they can "interpret" the situation and if your son/daughter becomes combative we will employ control holds, to prevent harm to your son/daughter or the Agents. At all times your son/daughter will be handled with respect.  Your son/daughter will be advised that his/her parent love them and they have made this decision in order to give them opportunity.  The Agents understand that they are a direct reflection of the parents and the program so they will be respectful with your son/daughter in order to prepare them for what is ahead.
