What if my child tries to run?

Once we have been introduced to your son/daughter they are always within arm's reach of our Agents during the intervention and transition process. UFS Agents pay particular attention to verbal remarks and body language that might give clues as to the mind set of your son/daughter. These warning signs will alert the Agents so that any problems are resolved before they occur. UFS takes pride in our 100% success rate at the safe transition of your son/daughter to their program.

How will I know how the transport is going and where my child is at?

Our Agents will make regular calls to you the Parents or Guardians as to the progress of the transport, and upon arrival at the School or Program. In addition, other means of communication (email or text messaging) may be used so long as they do not interfere with the transition process.  Our Agents understand that parents get anxious and for every hour we are gone, feels like four hours for a parent.   We will stay in communication with the parents throughout the transition.

Will UFS Agents prepare and talk to my son/daughter about the program?

UFS believes that it is extremely important that your son/daughter is prepared for the program.  UFS Agents are trained to not only perform a safe transport but to answer any questions that your son/daughter may have and in order to ensure a successful transition, Agents understand the importance of answering the questions truthfully.  Agents set a precedent with every child very early that an open line of communication is one of our top priorities. Our primary goal is to have your son/daughter arrive to their program prepared and with a positive attitude. Our in-depth knowledge of the programs we associate with help us to answer the questions correctly and ultimately achieve our primary goal.

What should I pack for my son/daughter?

Some programs only ask you to pack certain items. We ask that you only pack enough to fit into a carry-on bag unless prior arrangements have been made with the program. All medications should be placed in a zip-lock bag and presented to our Agents upon arrival.  Please write a letter to your son/daughter and give to the Agents as they will present the letters to your son/daughter at the appropriate time during the transition.

Will UFS Agents allow my son/daughter to use the telephone?

UFS policy states that an adolescent is not allowed to use the phone unless prior authorization by the parent has been issued and depending on relevant circumstances.  Ultimately the Agents are working to keep the emotions of your son/daughter under control so regardless of what prior authorizations the Agents will be the ultimate decision makers on whether your son/daughter uses the phone.  We never allow a child to bring or carry their own cell phone or pager.
